Roasted Pears for Winter
This is the ole' "One Scarf, Two Ways to Wear It" trick... OK kidding. Seriously though, I have been wanting to try my hand at roasting pears for a little while + something I have really taken an interest in this last year is eating seasonally. I highly recommend it. Pears are are among the winter fruit list... along with some of my favorite fruits and vegetables which include but are not limited to: persimmons, apples, citrus, pomegranates, broccoli rabe, beets, parsnips, carrots, sweet potatoes, potatoes and several squashes. Try them out, they are especially good during the winter time!
I love making dessert that is bread-less. I mean, do not misunderstand me when I say that, I LOVE bread, gluten, yeast, crust and bread (did I say bread twice?), however, mentally I feel like I'm not cheating too much when I make desserts without the added crust or dough. So I just did a simple ingredient roast when I made my steamy pears. These would be bomb with a crumble or a dollop of vanilla ice cream! DO IT. Or if you want to have a healthier treat, make it like I did... it is really good by itself I promise you!
Kait's Simple Roasted Pears//
Serves 2 (OR 1 hungry person).
Heat oven to 375 + Line your roasting dish with foil
2 Pears
2 Tbsp Melted Butter
2 Tbsp Maple Syrup
Cinnamon
Cut each pear in half and scoop out the seeds on the inside. Drizzle with butter, maple syrup and dust as much cinnamon as you want on them! I turned them face down in the oven (but they can be face up too) and roasted them for 25-30 minutes, or longer if you want them darker. Dish them up and pour whatever remnant of the sauce you have left in the pan.... You can thank me later for that!
Enjoy
Love, Kait
