Villa Ephrussi de Rothschild
It is hard to believe that over a month ago, My husband Tim and I got home from a three week trip to Paris and the South of France. Although we have so many lovely memories and photos, I could never begin to post about the entire trip, however I did want to post about some special highlights! One of them being an old estate in Villefranche Sur Mer. A little town with pastel lined homes and buildings, Mediterranean beaches and some of the friendliest people you will ever come into contact with.
Tim and I are kind of punks about certain things, for example we do not like to take photos at museums. It sort of ruins it when other people do it too. I just want to say that I love photos (obviously) but there are some experiences you just have to be there for. Take it all in, no proof that you were really there. Who's with me? OK, maybe no one but I have to say you cannot fully understand how beautiful the art showcased at museums like the Louvre or Museé d'Orsay from a photo. There is just something about looking at it, thinking about it, breathing it all in, that makes it so special and unique. I also love the practice of staring at and studying art and the fact that we cannot replicate it. Each piece is original and individual. It is kind of overwhelming
Having said that, there was one place that I wanted to visit that I knew I would want to take a whole bunch of photos at. Mainly because I don't think I could ever drag Tim to come back here again! Also, we are talking about an entirely pink mansion with unbelievable foliage, interiors, bloomy florals and views from the top. It is completely girly in the fullest sense, yet there is a aura of masculinity in the sheer size + shape of the place. The owner actually designed her home and numerous jardins (as the french say it) to replicate a ship (OK Tim did think this part was cool!). I can't help but hope I can frame some of these photos and put them in my future baby girls' room one day. I hope you are all able to come here one day because these photos just do not do it proper justice.
