Hello!

Welcome to my website... I hope you enjoy reading about the meals I create, life on a boat, my personal style + travels with my husband!

Toasts

I have been wanting to share a few toast ideas with you all because they are favorite around our home to eat and order at a restaurant with friends.  You can build a gourmet toast with ingredients you already have in your home... here are some of the things I keep on hand for making toasts:

  • Various raw and roasted tree nuts (I like almonds, walnuts, pecans and hazelnuts)
  • Almond butter (I love the Maranatha brand!)
  • Coconut butter
  • Ricotta cheese (My favorite is from the Precious brand, do not skimp on the fat... you already know this right?)
  • Different seasoning salts (I love the Everything seasoning form Trader Joe's + Lemon pepper seasoning)
  • Course Salt + Peppercorns that you can freshly grind
  • Avocado (DUH)
  • Lemon (I always have lemon on hand)
  • Raspberries
  • Honey
  • Goat cheese (the spreadable kind)
  • Radishes (I like these very thinly sliced)
  • Olive Oil + Balsamic Vinegar

Wow.  That was longer that I expected.  Could not eliminate anything from that list... Add to my list, what do you like to make your toast with?!  I usually make open faced topped toasts using sourdough or dave's killer bread because it is really wholesome and Tim loves it.  I need to start making bread again and only eating it on that.  We will get back to that soon!

Here are some lovely toasts I have either made, or eaten at a restaurant.... Enjoy you toast topping!

This bad boy right here is Dave's Killer bread, thin crust with olive oil, smashed avocado + salt and pepper. Would be amazing with squeezed lemon + radishes or everything seasoning.

This is one of my all time favorite combos... Ricotta cheese, smashed raspberries, topped with a drizzle of honey.  I also love nuts on the ricotta like hazelnuts or candied walnuts.  Another yummy way to do this would be lemon zest + olive oil + honey.  Simple, a bit more savory but a bit of sweetness to round it out.

This one... all the heart eyes.  One of my favorite restaurants on the East side is called Little brother.  They have my favorite Saturday* (*for I have a favorite Sunday market as well) farmers market and you almost HAVE to stop in and grab a coffee and tartine.  The two featured here are (on the top left) goat cheese, mushrooms + freshly grated parmesan cheese.  SO tasty.  The Second one is ricotta cheese, toasted almonds and drizzle honey on top and if I remember correctly a dash of sea salt.

I hope these inspire you to make more toasts at home!

XOXO Kait
